Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli met on Sunday with head of the General Authority of Suez Canal Economic Zone Walid Gamal el Din to follow up a number of investment and strategic projects carried out by the authority, including development of Sokhna port.
Gamal el Din updated the premier on the progress rate of the development of maritime ports, efforts to computerize customs services in addition to projects of water desalination, electricity distribution and renewable energy generation stations.
He also briefed Madbouli on the deal signed with Kuwait’s Agility, a leading global logistics provider, to establish a logistic center in Egypt’s East Port Said governorate with 60 million dollar investments. The center is likely to be operational in the second half of 2023.
Talks also tackled preparations for the COP27 conference to take place in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el Sheikh in November.
As part of preparations for the conference, the official said the authority will launch as of October 23 a media campaign to promote for the economic zone.
