Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El Said said Sunday the state is dealing with the issue of population from a comprehensive development perspective.
The minister’s statements came in a speech read out by director of the Demographic Centre Amira Tawadros during a session of the National Dialogue Centre themed “population issue …the role of civil organizations”.
The minister said cooperation between the government, NGOs and all development partners at the local and development levels reflects the Egyptian state’s participatory efforts to achieve all-out development.
Minister Said added the overpopulation issue represents one of the challenges the state is facing at this stage, pointing out the overpopulation problem comes in parrellel with economic and social pressures as a result of imbalance in the resources and population increase.
Said pointed out to the “Decent Life” initiative which aims to improve the living conditions of people living in rural areas.
