CAIRO – Egyptian Planning and Economic Development Minister Hala el Saeed has stressed the State’s keenness on supporting the private sector in Egypt and beyond.
During a meeting with Regional General Manager of Uber across the Middle East and Africa Frans Hiemstra on Wednesday, the minister praised the role played by the private sector in offering job opportunities in a way that achieves economic growth in all fields.
She reviewed her ministry’s work plan and under-construction projects, pointing out that the Egyptian State is keen on investing in the technological sectors.
Egypt’s hosting of the 2022 UN climate conference, COP27, in November will help raise awareness about green projects in the country, the minister noted.
For his part, Hiemstra said that Egypt is an important market for Uber, praising efforts exerted by the Egyptian State to attract foreign investments.
He expressed Uber’s keenness on taking part in the COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh, saying that his company is committed to becoming a global zero-emission transportation platform by 2040.
