Egypt and Albania signed on Monday acultural co-operation protocol to boost creative skills of both sides. Minister of Culture Nevine el-Kilany and her Albanian counterpart Elva Margariti witnessed the signing ceremony.

Egypt’s Ambassador to Albania Mohamed Haidar was also present.

This came during Minister el-Kilany’s participation in Egyptian-Albanian Cultural Week, which started yesterday and runs until September 25, in the Albanian capital, Tirana.

Egyptian General Book Organisation (EGBO) chief Haitham el-Hajj and Albanian Opera House director Abigela Voshtina signed the protocol.

Following the ceremony, commemorative shields were exchanged between the Egyptian and Albanian ministers of culture.

El-Kilany said the protocol covers expertise exchange between the two sides in various fields of cultural co-operation.

The strength of the relations binding Egypt and Albania dates from the visit by former Albanian President Ilir Meta to Cairo in 2019 and Prime Minister Edi Rama in October 2021.

During the Albanian prime minister’s visit, the two countries signed three memoranda of understanding in several fields.

The first MoU concerns an executive programme for co-operation between the Egyptian and the Albanian culture ministries.

The second deals with co-operation between the EGBO and the Albanian Ministry of Culture, while the third is for co-operation between the Supreme Council of Antiquities in Egypt and the National History Museum in Albania.
