Presidential Adviser for Urban Planning Amir Sayed Ahmed also attended the meeting alongside Chairman of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Hisham Sweifi.

The meeting reviewed the progress realized so far in implementing a number of transport projects, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi said.

The transport minister shed light on ongoing efforts to develop the railways system nationwide, especially the executive status of the first line of the express electric train (Ain Sokhna/ Alamein/Mersa Matrouh).

The minister reviewed cooperation with Deutsche Bahn for managing and operating the three lines of the express electric train.

A national company named – Deutsche Bahn Egypt – will be set up soon, he said, noting that the German company is training Egyptian cadres.

The talks also tackled the progress realized so far in establishing the new Bashtil railway station in accordance with international standards.
