Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has called for early completion of digital transformation projects and the automation of government services in order to make such services smoothly accessible to citizens.

The call was contained in directives the president gave during his meeting on Monday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.

The meeting was devoted to a review of national projects in the communications and information technology (CIT) sector, Spokesman Radi said.

The directives also called for speedy completion of the establishment of the Knowledge City in the New Administrative Capital and that the highest technological standards be observed in setting up the city.

A relevant directive recommended the expansion of the establishment of “Egypt Digital Creativity” centres to allow training activities and sponsoring creativity and entrepreneurship nationwide, Spokesman Radi said.

President Sisi also called for allocating rewarding incentives to encourage outstanding students of the Digital Egypt Cubs Initiative (DECI) programmes in order to promote human development and capacity-building for the talented in the information technology sector.

In a presentation he made during the meeting, CIT Minister Talaat outlined the progress of study at the “Egypt Informatics University”, in addition to the executive position of the Knowledge City in the New Administrative Capital.

He also presented the executive position of a number of projects being implemented in the communications and information technology sector in the context of consolidating the infrastructure and information technology.
