CAIRO – The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) said that the credit facility balances for clients in banks rose by around EGP 661 billion to hit EGP 3.564 trillion by the end of June of the 2021/2022 fiscal year.
In its latest monthly report, the CBE said non-governmental credit facilities increased by EGP 409 billion at an average rate of 22.7 per cent, the CBE added.
The credit facilities issued to the government rose by EGP 252 billion at a rate of 22.8 per cent.
The CEB attributed the surge in credit facilities offered to the government to the rise in balances in foreign currency by EGP 149.1 billion and in balances in local currency by EGP 102.9 billion.
