The inauguration of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi of the Olympic Village at the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) along with new naval units is an affirmation that the international waterway is a symbol of national pride for Egypt, affirmed SCA Chairman Osama Rabie.

During the proceedings of inaugurating the Olympic Village and new naval units of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) on Thursday, Rabie said that the SCA’s employees are honored that their efforts have been crowned by President Sisi’s opening of many projects, which are considered an important step in marching towards the “new republic”.

President Sisi, who is a great leader, has put the State’s interests at the forefront of any other priority in order to help Egypt occupy the position it deserves, he went on to say.

For more than 150 years, great accomplishments have taken place in the Suez Canal, which is considered one of the most important waterways in the world, he further said.

Around 12 per cent of the world’s trade passes through the canal, he boasted.

The Suez Canal is also a critical maritime passage for global supply chains and among the world’s most significant trade waterways, he added.

The Suez Canal Corridor Development Project, which was established on a total length of 72 kilometres, is one of the most significant and important projects to be implemented since the nationalisation of the Suez Canal in 1956, said Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Chairman Osama Rabie.
