Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi expressed on Tuesday Egypt’s keenness to work with Algeria to ensure the success of the Arab Summit in promoting joint Arab action to address the huge challenges facing the Arab world, with the aim of restoring its position and unity in a way that supports the concept of the national state and preserves the resources of the Arab peoples.
The president’s remarks came as he received on Tuesday Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra in the presence of Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri and Algerian Ambassador in Cairo Hamid Shbira, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
President Sisi also affirmed Egypt’s appreciation of the historic, firm, and special relations with Algeria on the official and popular levels. He also expressed keenness to strengthen all areas of joint co-operation with Algeria during the coming period.
The meeting also discussed the prospects for bilateral relations, and the desire to strengthen co-operation frameworks in various fields and to maximise effective communication channels between the two countries at the governmental and popular levels.
It also reviewed a number of regional issues of common interest at the Arab level, especially the latest developments in Syria, Libya and Iraq. The two sides agreed on the importance of intensifying mutual coordination to work on restoring security, stability and regional peace.
The Algerian foreign minister handed President Sisi a written message from Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, inviting him to participate in the upcoming Arab summit in Algeria at early next November.
Sisi requested that Lamamra conveys his greetings to his brother President Tebboune, and welcomed the Algerian president’s invitation to attend the Arab summit.
The Algerian foreign minister stressed his country’s keenness to strengthen bilateral co-operation with Egypt on various levels.
