CAIRO – The Armed Forces have signed a contract with an American company, SYMX, to establish an international research and therapeutic centre of stem cells.

The deal was sealed as part of efforts by the Armed Forces to support the health system in Egypt and provide advanced medical services.

Addressing the inking ceremony Sunday, director of the centre of medical research and regenerative medicine Maj. Gen. Khaled Eissa said the Armed Forces are seeking to be updated with scientific developments to be able to provide an integrated medical system in line with the vision of the new republic.

The international stem cell center will be established in accordance with the most advanced scientific research and cellular therapy, Eissa said.

For his part, SYMX President Andrew Ramos said he is happy to sign the contract with Egypt, stressing that the center-to-be would play a key role in preparing researchers and creating a favorable working environment for them to keep them updated with all the scientific developments where cellular therapy is concerned.
