The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum said the numbers of natural gas-powered vehicles went up by 45 per cent until the end of July 2022, compared with the same period one year earlier.

Petroleum Minister Tareq Al Molla has underscored the need to abide by scheduled programmes to implement the state’s plan on expanding vehicles’ use of natural gas with widely-spread service stations in terms of global economic crises.

The minister’s remarks came on Thursday during a meeting to follow up the implementation of the national project on expanding in vehicles’ use of natural gas.

Al Molla also directed to establish more maintenance and service centres nationwide to meet the needs of people desiring to depend on natural gas as fuel for their vehicles.

The minister also stood on expanding natural gas stations in Sharm El Sheikh in preparations for the United Nations Climate Change (COP27) which Egypt will host in November.
