The visit came on the second day of the Nasser Fellowship for International Leadership, which is held under the auspices of Egyptian President Abdel Fatah El Sisi.

AL Assistant Secretary General Haifa Abu Ghazaleh received the delegation and briefed them on the history of the League, the oldest organisation in the Middle East and North Africa.

On first day, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology Khalid el-Attar met on day one with the second cohort of the Nasser Leadership Fellowship to discuss Egypt’s digital transformation strategy with Technology and innovation advisor Dr Nizar Sami,

The Egyptian government seeks to build a digital state and create a digital-based society in all aspects of life, el-Attar said, adding that the aim is to improve the performance of government agencies, improve the quality and efficiency of public services, and support for decision-making.

The government’s plan to digitise Egypt aims to improve Egyptians’ quality of life and providing multiple online services through all digital and non-digital platforms, el-Attar said.

The government also seeks to interconnect its systems digitally to improve the quality of work within the administrative apparatus, he said.

The key objective is to enable the state to work in an atmosphere of transparency and accountability, he added.
