CAIRO – The Egyptian Planning Ministry said public investments in the transport sector exceeded LE665 billion over the past eight years, marking a 454 per cent in comparison with the previous eight years.
This came in a report published on Thursday by the Ministry of Planning.
The report reviewed the efforts exerted by the state to improve the living conditions of people with regard to transport service during the past eight years.
Annual investments in this sector rose from LE16.2 billion in 2013-2014 to LE222.5 billion in 2021-2022.
Saeed said the holistic investments in the transport sector in 2022-2023 are estimated at LE307 billion under the public plan.
The report reviewed the progress realised under the national roads project.
The report also tackled the efforts exerted to develop the railways, including the establishment of an Egyptian network for express trains.
The report added that Egypt obtained the the 2020 Babacar Ndiaye Great Road Builder Award of the African Development Bank.
