JTI (Japan Tobacco International- El Nakhla ), celebrated the 2021 closing ceremony of the latest edition of its community investment project  to support women’s economic empowerment in Menofia governorate in cooperation with Ketharet Dawood Organization for Development and Rotary Club of Gezira Sporting. As a responsible member of the community,  JTI  invested  around $300 000 in the past 6 years in Community Investment in Monoufia, supported educating and empowering 150 women in Menofia.

The  ceremony was held in Ashmoun- Menofia govenorate, JTI honored the women who completed their trainings successfully while providing them with 60 sewing machines to be able to kick-off their own startup business .

 

The event was attended by Khaled El Nemr Shebin El Koum City Chief and Sobhy el Shafei  -The General Director of The legal Department at the Ministry of Investment and a member of the board of Directors of the Gafi free zone in Moufia , Ketharet Dawood Organization for Development representatives and Dr. Nevine Nakhla President of Rotary Gezira Sporting and Rotary Litracy Committee head Dr. Pakinam Abdel Fatah and Ahmed Gad Operations Director JTI-El Nakhla .

In line with  the Egyptian State vision for sustainable development and women empowerment specially in the Haya Karima Governorates .The overall project and  tailor made trainings provided over a year aims at increasing women inclusion in the labor market and transform unemployed and illiterate women to well-educated and entrepreneur women by engaging them in literacy classes, health awarness classes, vocational training sessions, entrepreneurship and business training workshops to build their character and enhance their capabilities and skills.

 

For his part, Ahmed Gad , JTI’s Operations Director  in Egypt said: “At JTI, we are always committed to contributing to the development of the communities in which we operate. As we firmly believe that women can build strong communities through educational and economic empowerment programs, we are proud to support women with the needed resources to reach their full potential and positively improve their standards of living”.

The long-term community project supports income generating resources through vocational training to empower women to become more financially independent and effectively create a source of income for themselves and their families with sustainable small or home-based businesses to improve their standards of living and contribute to Egypt’s economic development.

 

For its part, Ketharet Dawood Organization for Development will manage literacy and health awareness classes through “Start with Yourself” program to enhance the educational capabilities of women and increase their health culture, providing a certified training program from the “International Labour Organization” to help potential entrepreneurs in creating a successful business plan in addition to providing vocational training sessions.

 

Nevine Nakhla, President of Rotary Gezira, said “Rotary works on 7 pillars for sustainable development world wide and we chose in this great project funded by JTI to work on a full concept to assure full empowerment to women and to assure sustainable development and sustainability of the projects, we worked on the SDGs of the United Nations as well as Women National Strategic Plan 2030 of the Egyptian Government to eradicate poverty and litracy and health awareness and economic development as well as vocational training and governace and assureing quality of the Egyptian products to assure the branding of Egypt products to be on track and recognized.”
