Russia marks national day 3 - Egyptian Gazette

The Russian Embassy in Cairo celebrated on June 12 Russia’s national day in the presence of a host of public figures and senior officials, including Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar and Minister of Supply Ali el-Moselhy.
In his speech, Russian Ambassador Georgiy Borisenko said his country is proud of its great history, culture and sciences.

He also talked about the depth of relations between Egypt and Russia, stressing the strategic co-operation between the two countries, in addition to the old friendship ties that unite them.
The envoy stressed that Russia defends not only its national security interests, but the right of all countries of the world to live according to their traditions and “not by orders from Western countries”.
The ambassador pointed out that Moscow looks to the future with confidence despite the enormous pressure caused by sanctions on Russia.
“We continue to develop our economy despite attempts to stop us. At the same time, we count on co-operation with friends in Asia, Africa and Latin America,” he said.
Although Egypt’s history goes back thousands of years to ancient times, it seems that Egypt has always been a “young country” and is developing dynamically, he added.
As for bilateral ties, the ambassador referred to the Comprehensive Partnership Agreement and Strategic Co-operation, which are a symbol of the high level of mutual understanding and trust.
“We preserve the ancient traditions of friendship and work together to stabilise the Middle East and North Africa.”
