CAIRO – Participants at Darul Ifta conference lauded on Thursday President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s efforts in confronting terrorism and extremism as well as his call for religious discourse renewal.
The participants also extended thanks to Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli for his continued support and for sponsoring the conference.
Under the theme “Religious Extremism: Intellectual Premises and Counter Strategies”, the Salam Centre’s first international conference underlined, at the end of its proceedings, the importance of renewing religious discourse, saying this is considered an authentic process in Islamic law.
The participants at the conference also said renewing religious discourse requires a persistent effort in revealing the elements of constancy within religion.

The conference further underlined the importance of implementing a set of strategic goals with view to open channels of communication and co-operation with fatwa institutions worldwide by utilizing modern technology in this respect.
It also included several workshops with the participation of several figures representing international, Arab, and Islamic organisations and institutions.
The conference aimed to enhance international co-operation, exchange experiences in combating extremism, and widen horizons for research and academic co-operation.
