Boosting partnership with private sector cornerstone to achieve industrial development: Gamea

Egypt’s Minister of Trade and Industry Niven Gamea asserted that boosting partnership between the government and the private sector represents a cornerstone in the work plan of the Ministry of Trade and Industry to achieve the targets of the Egyptian state towards comprehensive and sustainable industrial development and to up the volume the exports to hit 100 billion dollars within the coming few years.

This came during Gamea’s meeting with the members of the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) chaired by Mohamed el Sewedy.

Gamea pointed out to the directives of the political leadership to give more support to the industrialists to contribute to expanding the industrial base for the big and medium industries and achieving the targets of the developmental plans of the Egyptian state in all the production and service sectors.

She lauded the national role of the industrialists to provide the necessary goods and products to meet the needs of the local market whether during coronavirus pandemic or in light of the current Russian-Ukrainian war, adding that this contributed to maintaining the production rates of factories.

She reviewed the condition of marketing the industrial complexes and the system of unprecedented incentives that are put by the ministry to facilitate things for the producers.

She also reviewed the initiative of the Egyptian-UAE-Jordanian partnership that was inked last week which represents an important leap in the joint Arab industrial integration track.

The initiative includes cooperation in 27 industrial integration project implemented on three stages and aims at achieving the interest of the economies of the three countries, she said.

She said that Egypt’s participation in this initiative aimed at benefiting from major potentials of the Egyptian economy, adding that the projects of the first phase of the initiative include agricultural, animal production, petrochemical and fertilizers, pharmaceutical projects in addition to other different types of projects.

Meanwhile, Sewedy asserted the keenness of the federation to effectively contribute to achieving the goals of the Egyptian state especially in light of the major support of the political leadership and government to the industrial sector, pointing out to the importance of benefiting from the expertise of the FEI to outline a roadmap to develop the Egyptian industry.
