Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli Tuesday made an inspection tour of road and bridge projects by the Ministry of Transport connecting the governorates of Qalyubia and Dakahlia.
Minister of Housing Assem el-Gazzar and Minister of Transport Kamel el-Wazir accompanied the prime minister during the tour along with Governor of Qalyubia Abdel Hamid el-Haggan and Governor of Dakahlia Ayman Mokhtar.
The prime minister assessed the progress in the first phase of a 37-kilometre highway east of el-Rayah el-Tawfiqi from Benha to Mit Ghamr.
The LE4.3 billion highway will have two 4-lane carriageways and will reduce congestion on the Ring Road and the Cairo-Alexandria Agricultural Road.
El-Wazir said work must be sped up to complete the Benha-Mansoura- road upgrade on schedule and in accordance with the highest international standards.
The 73-kilometre Benha-Mansoura road accommodates efficient irrigation outlets.
Madbouli also toured ring road expansions around Mansoura, linking University Bridge and Minya Sandoub Bridge.
The 4.5 kilometres of extension work will cost LE450 million.
The premier inspected work on a flyover connecting the Corniche Road with the Mansoura-Talkha Corridor and the 50-kilometre Mansoura-Gamasa road development project, which is being implemented at a cost of LE1.2 billion.
Such projects are of paramount importance to the developmental renaissance that the state is currently undertaking, the prime minister said, adding that personnel engaged on the projects must abide by precautionary measures taken to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
Madbouli inspected the Mansoura-Gamasa road development project with a length of 50km, at a cost of 1.2 billion pounds.
