PARIS – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi announced that Egypt is allocating $500 million as part of an Egyptian initiative for the reconstruction of Gaza Strip following the recent events. Egyptian specialised companies will participate in the implementation of the reconstruction projects.

Addressing a tripartite summit held in Paris Tuesday and was attended by French President Emmanuel Macron and Jordan’s King Abdullah II on the latest developments in the Palestinian territories and means to reach ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinians, President Sisi stressed the importance and timing of this summit, which aims to crystallise joint international action by the three countries to stop violence and contain the serious escalation in the Palestinian territories that exacerbated the humanitarian and living situation inside Gaza Strip.

These events add to its negative repercussions on regional peace and security, President Sisi said, appreciating President Macron’s initiative to hold this summit as part of the regular consultations and coordination between Egypt, Jordan and France on regional issues, especially the situation in the Palestinian territories.

President Sisi affirmed that there was no way to end the vicious circle of chronic violence and the flare-up of the situation in the Palestinian territories, except by finding a decisive, just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause, leading to the establishment of a Palestinian state in accordance with international legitimacy and United Nations resolutions.

President Sisi also stressed the seriousness of attempts to change the demographic situation in the city of Jerusalem.

He affirmed that Egypt would continue to do its utmost to stop the current mutual escalation, by intensifying contacts with all international parties concerned as well as with the Palestinians and Israelis.

He also highlighted Egypt’s support for all international efforts aimed at ending the current state of tension, restoring stability and ending bloodshed and losses.

President Sisi also called upon the international community to intensify efforts to urge Israel to stop the current escalation of violence in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

During Tuesday’s conference, the three leaders also agreed to step up their efforts and joint political endeavors by holding contacts and consultations with international partners in order to reach an end to violence and military escalation in the Palestinian territories.
