CAIRO – Egyptian Minister of State for Emigration and Expatriates’ Affairs Nabila Makram said the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) has promising investment opportunities and is considered one of the key economic zones worldwide, pressing the need for coordination to outline a future plan for its investment potentials.

This came during Makram’s meeting on Monday with Chairman of SCZONE Yehia Zaki at the SCZONE premises in El Sokhna as part of the delegations participating in the sixth edition of “Egypt Can With Industry” Conference, which is due to kick off on Tuesday under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

In a statement released by SCZONE, Zaki voiced happiness over the minister’s interest in highlighting the volume of businesses and projects carried out by the SCZONE for Egyptians abroad to promote for such national projects and investments which are a gate for trade in Africa and a key corridor for development in the region.

During the meeting, SCZONE chief made a presentation on the strategy adopted by the SCZONE in luring in international investments, localizing industry and introducing advanced technology to the targeted industrial sectors along with providing a variety of job opportunities to youths as part of the comprehensive industrial and economic development plan embraced by the new republic.

He also underlined that the region is targeted to be an international hub for clean energy and supplying ships with green fuel, noting that several agreements have been initially signed in this regard with major international companies ahead of convening the UN Climate Conference (COP27), to be held in November in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh.
