KUWAIT CITY – Kuwait’s 13th Municipal Council election kicked off Saturday, where polling centers are expected to receive voters to elect their candidates, KUNA reported.
Two candidates have already been announced winners due to a lack of quorum in the required number of candidates in the seventh and tenth constituencies as per Article 25 of the Electoral Law.
Thirty-eight candidates including a woman, are running in eight constituencies. The government will then appoint six members in the 16-seat Municipal Council, MENA reported.
The election is held at 443 committees distributed over 76 schools in eight electoral constituencies.
