Egypt concerned about developments in Libya

Egypt is following up with great concern the latest developments in Libya, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement Tuesday.

All Libyan parties are urged to exercise self-restraint and to avoid any steps that might ignite violence, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafez.

He stressed the importance of maintaining calm and protecting souls and property in the Arab country.

Dialogue is inevitable to be able to hold the Libyan presidential and legislative elections on time, Hafez said.

He reiterated the importance of constitutional negotiations, currently held here, with the aim to achieve aspirations of the Libyan people.
