The Spanish Embassy in Cairo and the Cervantes Institute in Alexandria will be the venues for cultural celebrations of Europe Month, which began yesterday.
As part of Europe Goes Green Film Program, the Cervantes Institute will be screening a series of twelve films treating environmental issues and sustainability on 10-29 May.
Among the dozen films to be screened are Calabuch, Vacas, Costa da Morte.
Calabuch (1956) d. Luis Garcia Berlanga, tells the story of a rocket expert who is tired of his job. He seeks refuge in the village of Calabuch, where he helps the residents in a fireworks exhibition. However, NASA catches up with him.
Vacas (Cows, 1991) d. Julio Medim follows the fortunes of three generations of two families in rural Basque Country from 1875 to 1936.
Costa da Morte (Death Coast, 2013) d. Lois Patiño is a documentary in a fragmented style showing how a community is the product of its environment.
