CAIRO – Egypt’s International Cooperation Minister Rania el-Mashat said that Egypt increased its investments in silos for storing wheat and grain to achieve food security, especially in light of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis that is badly affecting global supply chains.
Mashat made the remarks during her meeting with Rajiv Shah, President of the Rockefeller Foundation in Washington.
The non-profit global foundation is interested in strengthening development efforts around the world.
Mashat and Shah discussed cooperation in climate financing and boosting development partnerships.
She posted the Rockefeller Foundation president on the State’s efforts to continue structural reforms and preserve the inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
The international cooperation minister reviewed the government’s strategy for shifting to green economy and increasing reliance on clean and renewable energy sources, citing the launching of the 2035 Integrated Sustainable Energy Strategy and the 2050 National Climate Change Strategy.
She asserted that the private sector and non-profit foundations could play an important role in supporting climate action and provide funding for developing countries’ plans to cut carbon emissions and preserve the environment.
