LE8b allocated to raise public sector wages in Q4 of FY2021-22

A sum of LE8 billion has been allocated to cover the wage increase for state employees that will be disbursed in the final quarter of the 2021/22 fiscal year, said Finance Minister Mohamed Maeet.

The move came upon presidential directives and in light of the periodic allowance for those subject to the civil service law and those who are not addressed by the same law as well as other special allowances and additional incentives, added the minister.

It also came to deal with the repercussions of global economic challenges and to mitigate their effects on citizens, he further said.

In a statement Tuesday, the minister said that about LE2.6 billion were allocated to cover the wage increase for state employees that will be disbursed as of Wednesday.

The periodic allowances for those addressed by the Civil Service Law will be calculated at 8% of the job wage, with a minimum of LE100 per month, and no maximum, added the minister.
