Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy on wednesday received Salem bin Muhammad, Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ISESCO), who is currently visiting Egypt to discuss aspects of joint co-operation.

The meeting dealt with areas of co-operation regarding ISESCO’s initiative to adopt the year 2022 as the ‘Year of ISESCO for Youth’. The meeting also dealt with the activities of ‘Cairo, Capital of Culture in the Islamic World for 2022’. The meeting discussed the preparations and logistical arrangements necessary for the official announcement of the initiative of the 2022 ISESCO Youth Year, and the measures to be taken in this regard.

The Minister of Youth and Sports expressed his gratitude for the co-operation with ISESCO and for participating in organising the activities of the ISESCO Youth Year, emphasising the importance of youth role in building their societies.

The minister also referred to the close cooperation between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Egyptian National Committee for Education, Science and Culture headed by Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education. This committee, he continued, is concerned with coordination and communication with the three organizations for education, science and culture — ISESCO, ALECSO, and UNESCO.

Sobhi said co-operation with the Egyptian National Committee for Education, Science and Culture has been reflected in the implementation of many youth and sports activities, including the first youth summit of Egypt’s youth centers under the slogan: ‘Qualifying youth at international level’, and the second youth summit for the youth of the border governorates under Slogan: ‘Youth, Entrepreneurship and National Security’.
