Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed the importance of proceeding with national plans to enhance the use of renewable energy and maximize its value in order to diversify energy sources for attaining development in Egypt and harness the production of wind energy through electricity generation.
This came during President Sisi’s meeting on Sunday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and Electricity and Renewable Energy Minister Mohamed Shaker.
The meeting reviewed the progress made so far in the projects implemented by the Electricity Ministry nationwide, said Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi.
During the meeting, Shaker reviewed national projects in the electricity production sector that use new and renewable energy, especially those that depend on wind and solar energy, added the spokesman.
This comes as part of the country’s targets of having 42% of its energy needs from renewable energy sources, which will make up the electrical energy hybrid in Egypt by 2035.
Shaker also reviewed developments pertinent to cooperation with international expertise within the framework of the national strategy to generate green hydrogen energy using renewable energy, according to the spokesman.
In this context, President Sisi has directed for the maximized use of renewable energy, underling the importance of ensuring the country possesses the capacity in the field of hydrogen generation and exploitation, whilst keeping pace with global developments in this field.
The minister, meanwhile, presented the status of power supply to the mega “New Delta” agricultural project.
He also reviewed progress made in the electrical feed to the national project for the development of Sinai so as to create integrated urban communities in the peninsula
The meeting also reviewed the executive position regarding the establishment of the main control center in the national grid for electricity transmission in the New Administrative Capital (NAC), said the spokesman.
