Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli highlighted President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives to declare the Red Sea resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh a “green city” and accelerate the completion of the city’s development projects.

Madbouli made the remarks during a meeting held on Thursday with tourism investors Nasser Abdel Latif and Nader Hisham Ali to follow up a number of hotel expansion projects in Sharm el-Sheikh in preparation for holding the UN Climate Change Conference 2022 (COP27) in November.

The prime minister pointed out to presidential directives to speed up operation of stalled tourism projects in Sharm el-Sheikh and finalize infrastructure projects in it.

The meeting touched on the status of the development projects being implemented in Sharm el-Sheikh and efforts to increase hotels capacity in the city.

Meanwhile, Abdel Latif said he is preparing for launching an international tourist complex in Sharm el-Sheikh, adding that a partnership contract has been inked with an international company to implement this project that is expected to lure from 1 to 1.5 million tourists annually.

For his part, Ali hailed the great potentials and strong infrastructure Sharm el-Sheikh possesses, saying all ongoing road development projects will help provide many investment opportunities mainly in the tourism sector
