CAIRO – Chairman of the Food Export Council Hany Barzy said that exports of the Egyptian food industry increased by 3 per cent in the first two months of 2022, recording 625 million dollars against 609 million dollars in the corresponding period in 2021.
In a statement on Monday, Barzy pointed out that Arab countries topped the list of international groups importing food industry products from Egypt.
Exports to the Arab markets amounted to 379 million dollars in the first two month of 2022, representing 61 percent of the total food exports, Barzy explained.
The European Union came second in the list with a value of 88 million dollars, representing 14 per cent of Egypt’s total food exports, Barzy said.
It was followed by non-Arab African countries with the value of food imported from Egypt amounting to 51 million dollars, representing 8 per cent of the total.
The value of food exports to the US upped by 9 per cent to 34 million dollars, representing 5 per cent of Egypt’s total food exports.
The rest of the international groups recorded 73 million dollar worth of food imports from Egypt during the same period, representing 12 per cent of the total Egyptian food exports.
