1st Arab International Camel Racing Championship soon in Sharm

The event will be held under the auspices of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli.

Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy, South Sinai Governor Khaled Fouda and Dar El-Tahrir Board Chariman Eyad Abul Haggag attended the preliminary meeting yesterday.

Fouda said in his speech that work is now underway on the racecourse, the Bedouin heritage village, camel stables, and a camel veterinary clinic.

Sharm el-Sheikh will witness a boom in roads and green spaces, electric car charging stations, and the operation of 300 electric buses, Fouda added.

Championship awards will total five million pounds, he said.

Fouda also expressed gratitude and appreciation to Mahmoud el-Sulayya, former city council leader for his efforts in establishing the camel racecourse which cost LE105 million, including LE25 million from the state

Fouda also hailed the UAE government for their efforts in building racecourse and organising a camel race in the presence of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, on 16 January 2020.

For his part, Abul Haggag said Dar El-Tahrir will be the official media partner for the event , expressing hope for a successful tournament under the supervision of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Governorate of South Sinai and Dar Al-Tahrir.

Minister Sobhi said the championship is the first of its kind in Egypt.
