Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s unwavering position supporting a political solution through an inclusive dialogue led by the Libyans themselves, based on broad national consensus and in accordance with the established references for a settlement, foremost among them the Skhirat Agreement, without external dictates.
He stressed that such efforts should lead to a political settlement that preserves Libya’s unity, safeguards its state institutions and ensures their unification.
For her part, the UN envoy praised the close co-operation between Egypt and the UN mission, expressing the United Nations’ eagerness to continue coordination with Cairo to ensure the success of the political track and consolidate the foundations of peace and security across Libya.
