As part of efforts to implement President Abdel Fattah El‑Sisi’s directives and the recommendations of Egypt Forum 2026, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom held talks with executives from NI Capital on mechanisms to support entrepreneurship and accelerate the growth of start-ups in Egypt.
During the meeting, Rostom reaffirmed that entrepreneurship is a key pillar of economic development, highlighting its role in fostering innovation, attracting investment, creating jobs and enhancing the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy.
The minister reviewed government efforts to support the entrepreneurship ecosystem through the ministerial committee for entrepreneurship, chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, stressing the importance of creating a supportive business environment that enables start-ups to expand and scale.
Discussions focused on the executive steps and timelines for launching the proposed Start-up Fund, which aims to mobilise financing and provide entrepreneurs with the resources needed to expand regionally and globally.
Rostom also reviewed a number of initiatives designed to strengthen the entrepreneurship ecosystem, including the 100 Million Learners initiative, implemented in co‑operation with the Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University, which offers training and education programmes in leadership, management and entrepreneurship.
The minister further directed the acceleration of work on the regulatory framework for the proposed Billion-Dollar Start-ups Programme, which aims to help at least five Egyptian companies reach unicorn status within the next five years.
