Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Hani Swailem, followed up on Saturday training initiatives for African personnel conducted through the Pan-African Centre for Water and Climate Adaptation (PACWA) following a recent visit by a nine-member Ugandan delegation exploring Egyptian weed control research.
The minister received a report from the Regional Training Centre for Water Resources and Irrigation detailing field visits arranged for the trainees.
The programme, held from October 24 to 29 in collaboration with the Nile Water Affairs Sector, focused on using physical barriers to prevent the passage of aquatic weeds.
The training programme introduced delegates to Egyptian expertise, technologies, and research.
Swailem stated that transferring expertise, modern technologies, and technical skills to African personnel supports sustainable water management and boosts waterway operation and maintenance efficiency.
He emphasised PACWA’s key role in developing technical capacities, delivering specialised training programmes on water management and climate adaptation, and strengthening co-operation between Egypt and fellow African nations.
