DOHA — In a landmark judicial development, Qatar’s Court of Cassation has delivered a final and definitive ruling acquitting businessman Abdullah Ahmed Shaheen Al-Shaheen and his co-defendants of all charges in a high-profile spin-off case linked to the sprawling “Egyptian Steel” dispute.
The ruling, issued on October 26, 2026, under Cassation Criminal Appeals Nos. 1444 and 1532 of 2026, formally sets aside previous in-absentia convictions and dismisses the public prosecution’s appeals.
The decisive verdict brings legal closure to protracted proceedings before the country’s highest court.

The subsidiary case stems from the broader, highly publicised Egyptian Steel litigation, in which a foundational ruling was handed down on October 6, 2025.
During the appeal hearings, legal defenses successfully linked the core findings of the original ruling to the subsidiary charges, demonstrating a decisive impact on the legal framework governing the case.
Taking these judicial precedents and legal arguments into consideration, the Court of Cassation overturned the prior convictions, fully vindicating Al-Shaheen and the other defendants and restoring their legal standing.
With the issuance of this final, irrevocable verdict, all avenues of litigation before the Court of Cassation have officially concluded.
The ruling marks a significant milestone in the complex legal web surrounding the Egyptian Steel dossier, underscoring the judiciary’s role in resolving complex commercial disputes and upholding due process.
