President Abdel Fattah ElSisi reviewed national projects implemented by the Ministry of Housing in new urban communities and new cities, during a meeting on Saturday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and Minister of Housing Assem el-Gazzar.
The projects the president discussed during the meeting also included road, utility and housing projects as well as development activities in some of the nation’s slums, Presidential Spokesman, Ambassador Bassam Radi, said.
He said the president directed the prime minister and the minister of housing to increase dependence on mechanisms followed in the implementation of national projects in the past few years, by staying away from traditional bureaucratic planning and implementation methods.
The president said pursuing untraditional planning and implementation mechanisms in the past few years sped up the implementation of national projects and achieved development results that herald a better future.
Minister el-Gazzar briefed the president about progress on the implementation of infrastructure and service projects in New Assuit City, New Aswan City and New Mansoura City, Ambassador Radi said.
The minister of housing also apprised the president about the upgrade implemented now in Assuit City, he added.
The president also appraised construction projects in the New Administrative Capital, including in residential districts, the Government District, the Business District, and the Central District.
Minister el-Gazzar also explained progress on the projects implemented in New Alamein City, including the series of towers constructed in the city, the residential areas, the Heritage Town, the Latin District and the Entertainment area, Ambassador Radi said.
President Sisi also assessed the work being done for the upgrade of Greater Cairo, including in 6 October City, the development of el-Warraq Island and the comprehensive development of historical Cairo.
The presidential spokesman noted that the development of historical Cairo aims to bring the ancient beauty of the Egyptian capital back to it and turn it into a tourist site with its own distinct architectural nature.
He especially referred to Ain el-Sera neighborhood, the vicinity of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization and el-Fustat Park.
Minister el-Gazzar also acquainted the president about the efforts his ministry makes in the field of water treatment and desalination stations nationwide, Ambassador Radi said.
He added that the minister of housing also apprised the president about the work his ministry does to provide slum dwellers with alternative housing.
The president, he said, instructed concerned state agencies to formulate programmes for the follow-up and social development of slum dwellers transferred to new urban communities.
