Minister of Labour Hassan Raddad met on Sunday with Head of the Future of Egypt Authority for Sustainable Development Bahaa El-Ghannam at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Capital to discuss strengthening co-operation in social protection, vocational training and preparing workers for employment.
The meeting focused on identifying and registering informal workers employed in projects implemented by the authority, with the aim of integrating them into the Ministry of Labour’s social care, protection and support programmes.
Discussions also explored leveraging the ministry’s expertise, training centres and vocational programmes to qualify and train young people for employment within specialised companies affiliated with the authority.
This initiative aims to develop a skilled technical workforce capable of meeting project requirements while expanding employment opportunities for young people.
Both sides agreed to expedite the signing of a co-operation protocol covering these areas.
They also discussed organising awareness seminars for workers and employers on labour legislation, occupational health and safety, and workplace rights and responsibilities, helping to promote a safe, stable and productive working environment.
The meeting underscored the importance of this co-operation in view of the authority’s expanding development activities and partnerships with the private sector.
The Future of Egypt Authority holds stakes in more than 55 companies, while over 1,000 private-sector companies participate in its various projects.
These extensive partnerships offer promising opportunities to align government initiatives in social protection, vocational training and professional rehabilitation with the growing demand for skilled labour across development projects.
The proposed co-operation seeks to strengthen protection for informal workers, improve young people’s access to employment, and ensure the availability of qualified technical personnel to support ongoing and future projects.
It also reflects a shared commitment to connecting workforce development with Egypt’s broader economic and development priorities.
