Al Azhar has called for the urgent formation of a mediation committee of respected figures from Arab and Islamic countries to help end wars and conflicts in the region.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el Tayyeb urged Arab and Muslim nations to stop fighting immediately and resolve their differences through dialogue.
He warned that the current conflicts were claiming innocent lives, destroying resources and threatening regional stability.
Al Azhar proposed that the committee ease tensions, bring opposing sides together and seek peaceful solutions to existing disputes.
El Tayyeb said he was ready to support the committee’s efforts to end the conflicts and prevent further bloodshed.
He also called on all parties to put aside their differences and prioritise peace, national sovereignty and the protection of innocent lives.
Al Azhar stressed the importance of dialogue and cooperation in protecting the future of Arab and Muslim nations.
