Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has reviewed the results of a comprehensive medical convoy that examined 1,203 people and provided free healthcare services in 6th of October City on October 13-14.

The convoy was organised by the Cabinet’s Supreme Medical and Relief Committee in co-operation with the Dhay El-Kheir Association for Humanitarian Work, as part of efforts to expand access to free healthcare in underserved communities.

In a report submitted to the prime minister, Supreme Medical and Relief Committee Chairwoman Naglaa Abdel Moneim said the convoy offered services across several medical specialties, including ophthalmology. These included free medical examinations and treatment, diagnostic tests, medication and eyeglasses, as well as referrals for patients requiring surgery.

Abdel Moneim said 435 of those examined received ophthalmological services, with 206 pairs of eyeglasses distributed to eligible patients. Eight cases requiring eye surgery were also identified.

The convoy’s comprehensive clinics examined a further 750 patients and identified four cases requiring surgical intervention. All prescribed medications were provided free of charge to the patients examined.

The committee said it would continue to follow up on cases requiring eye and other surgeries and co-ordinate the necessary procedures with the relevant medical authorities.

It also plans to organise further medical convoys across Egypt’s governorates to support the state’s efforts to provide free healthcare, improve access to medical services and expand health protection for citizens, particularly in the most underserved areas.
