The ninth edition of the International Egyptian Dates Festival opened on Wednesday in the Siwa Oasis in Matrouh Governorate, under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and with support from Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Erth Zayed Philanthropies in the UAE.
The festival runs until October 16.
The event brings together exhibitors from across Egypt and several Arab countries, along with officials, experts, researchers, farmers, producers, manufacturers, exporters and representatives of regional and international organisations.
The festival is organised jointly by the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation, affiliated with the UAE’s Erth Zayed Philanthropies , Egypt’s Ministry of Industry and Matrouh Governorate.
The event is part of a long-standing Egyptian-Emirati partnership that began in Siwa in 2015.
It aims to develop date palm cultivation and date production and processing, promote the exchange of expertise and knowledge, improve product quality, and open up wider opportunities for marketing, investment and exports.
