Egypt’s Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk said Egypt’s fiscal and economic policies prioritise boosting private sector growth, investment and its contribution to the national economy.
During a meeting on Tuesday with Executive Director and Head of Investment at the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), Sameh Shennouda, on the sidelines of the IMF and World Bank meetings in Bangkok, Kouchouk said Egypt is working to increase the production and exports of goods and services by encouraging investment with strong economic returns.
He described the AFC as a strategic partner capable of mobilising more private capital to support development in Egypt.
He added that Egypt seeks a new phase of bilateral cooperation to finance Egyptian projects in partnership with the private sector.
Kouchouk said the two sides also aim to develop a joint list of priority economic activities to support sustainable growth.
He added that Egypt seeks to attract new groups of investors through diverse financing markets and more competitive terms to reduce financing costs.
