The Egyptian House of Zakat and Charity, under the supervision of Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed El-Tayeb, launched on Monday a large-scale aid convoy to support the most vulnerable families in Matrouh Governorate, in co-ordination with Governor Mohamed El-Zamlout.
The initiative forms part of the organisation’s development programmes aimed at delivering assistance to eligible beneficiaries in remote areas, villages and settlements across Matrouh and other governorates, based on its database of eligible zakat and charitable aid recipients.
According to a statement by the organisation, the campaign includes the distribution of 5,000 food parcels containing cooking oil, sugar, pasta, rice, flour and lentils, as well as 2,000 food vouchers redeemable at Super Tawfeer outlets operated by the Future of Egypt Authority for Sustainable Development . The convoy also includes four tonnes of meat, 100 electric and standard wheelchairs for people with disabilities, and 7,000 items of clothing for children of all ages.
The first phase targets villages and settlements across Sidi Barrani, Matrouh, El-Nagila and El-Salloum. The second phase will extend the distribution of food parcels, meat, clothing and wheelchairs to people with disabilities in the Siwa and El-Ghara oases, located west of the Qattara Depression.
The Egyptian House of Zakat and Charity reaffirmed its commitment to distributing zakat and charitable donations in accordance with Islamic law, aiming to support vulnerable families and bring relief to those most in need.
