A European Parliament resolution calling for the Muslim Brotherhood to be placed on the EU’s terror list reflects growing concern in Europe over the group’s activities, an informed Egyptian source said.
The source said the resolution also called for a comprehensive review of EU funding to individuals and entities linked to the banned group, and urged member states to adopt a collective position on its financing, AlQahera News reported.
The resolution reflected growing international awareness of what the source described as the Brotherhood’s dangers, practices and terrorist ideology, the source said.
It was an important step following the United States’ designation earlier this year of the group’s branches in Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon as terrorist organisations, the source added.
