Presidency spokesman Mohamed El-Shennawy said a commemorative photo was taken with Sisi and forum participants, including government representatives, heads of international organisations and executives of major foreign mining companies.

President Sisi also toured part of the Geological Museum’s exhibits before the opening ceremony.
The ceremony featured a film titled “Egypt: From the Gold of the Past to the Future of Mining,” followed by speeches by Badawi and AngloGold Ashanti CEO Alberto Calderon.
A documentary on the Sukari gold mine was also screened.
The programme included remarks by CEO of Australia-Africa Minerals and Energy Group, Doug Horak, and President and CEO of the International Council on Mining and Metals, Rohitesh Dhawan.
The forum also featured a film titled “Open Blocks” and remarks by the Global Director for Metals and Minerals at the World Bank Group, Namrata Thapar.
This was followed by a live broadcast from several mining sites across Egypt.

During the opening, President Sisi welcomed participants and stressed Egypt’s commitment to ensuring the success of investments by companies and businesspeople in mining and other sectors.
He later opened the Egypt Mining Exhibition by cutting the ribbon and toured the booths of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Capital Drilling, Elsewedy Electric and AngloGold Ashanti.
