Egypt’s Minister of Labour, Hassan Raddad, has reaffirmed that the welfare of Egyptians living abroad and the protection of their rights remain a top priority for the state, in line with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
Speaking at a meeting with members of the Egyptian community in Jordan on Saturday, Raddad highlighted the importance of strengthening Egyptian-Jordanian co-operation in labour, employment and vocational training. He also stressed the value of exchanging expertise to enhance labour systems, improve workforce efficiency and equip workers with the skills required by the labour market.
The minister further underscored the need for continued co-ordination with the Jordanian authorities to support the shared interests of both countries.
“Egyptian workers abroad are ambassadors for Egypt. Caring for them and protecting their rights is a shared responsibility,” Minister Raddad said, reaffirming the ministry’s commitment to keeping labour representatives close to workers and responsive to their needs.
Raddad instructed the Labour Representation Office at Egypt’s embassy in Jordan to step up engagement with Egyptian workers, monitor workplace conditions, safeguard their rights, review employment contracts, provide support and guidance, and coordinate with Jordanian authorities and Egyptian diplomatic missions to resolve labour-related issues.
Raddad highlighted ongoing efforts to develop a more organised system for overseas employment, train and equip Egyptian youth for international labour markets.
The ministry’s efforts aim to create legal recruitment channels and promote decent and safe work opportunities. The minister warned against illegal recruitment practices and unlicensed intermediaries, urging workers to use official channels.
