Egypt’s Interior Ministry received the Motion Picture Association’s 2026 Creative Protector award at a ceremony held in Washington on September 23, attended by members of Congress and US administration officials, the ministry said.
The award recognised the ministry’s efforts to combat digital piracy and protect intellectual property rights.
The honour followed the ministry’s dismantling of the StreamEast network, described as one of the largest digital piracy networks illegally streaming sports content. Its platforms recorded more than 1.6 billion visits in a single year, the ministry added.
The award reflects international recognition of Egypt’s efforts to combat emerging forms of crime, particularly those linked to cyberspace, and to protect intellectual property rights, it said.
