Nabil praises team spirit as Mohamed Salah targets victory
Ahead of their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola, Egypt’s national football team received an official visit from Youth and Sports Minister Gohar Nabil during a training session.
Welcomed by Egyptian Football Association President Hany Abo Rida, the minister met with the squad to convey greetings from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and highlight the government’s strong support for the team.
Nabil praised the squad’s recent performances and team spirit, noting that their dedication had brought great pride to the country.
Pointing to their impressive match against Argentina, he emphasised that the team had proved it could compete with the world’s top football nations.
He reminded the players that football brings joy to the Egyptian people and expressed full confidence in the team, coaching staff and federation to deliver a strong start to the qualifiers.
Speaking on behalf of the team, captain Mohamed Salah thanked the state and the federation for their continued support.
Reflecting on the progress made under managers Hossam and Ibrahim Hassan over the past three years, Salah said that the fans’ passionate support serves as a constant source of motivation.
He encouraged his teammates to take pride in representing Egypt and to give their all on the pitch to make the nation proud.
