Egypt has launched and delivered its first locally developed industrial robot, marking a step towards technology localisation, deeper domestic manufacturing and greater industrial competitiveness.

Developed by Raedbots using Egyptian expertise, the robot was unveiled at a ceremony attended by Industry Minister Khaled Hashem on Wednesday.

The robot is the result of collaboration between the Industrial Modernisation Centre, Raedbots and Qube, with the aim of integrating it into a practical industrial application.

Hashem said the launch and delivery of Egypt’s first industrial robot marked an important milestone in the country’s efforts to localise technology and deepen domestic manufacturing.

He stressed that technology and innovation were key drivers of industrial development and competitiveness.

“Egypt is not seeking to establish factories that simply produce goods, but factories that offer greater efficiency, flexibility and competitiveness, use the latest global technologies, and develop part of these technologies locally,” the minister said.

The project demonstrates the ability of Egyptian youth to innovate, develop technology and transform knowledge into tangible industrial products, Hashem added.

He said the concept of ‘Made in Egypt’ was evolving to reflect the country’s growing manufacturing and innovation capabilities, while strengthening the role of technology in local industry.

The minister praised the young engineers and technical teams involved in developing the robot, as well as Raedbots for its efforts and expertise. He also commended Qube for its confidence in locally developed technological solutions.

Hashem said the Ministry of Industry was prioritising the localisation of machinery and production-line manufacturing, describing them as enabling industries under Egypt’s industrial strategy.

He also stressed the importance of ensuring the robot’s long-term performance and reliability, noting that its success in industrial applications would be essential to building manufacturers’ confidence and encouraging wider adoption of locally produced robots.
