The Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening international regulatory co-operation with global partners. In this context, EDA Chairman Ali El-Ghamrawy held a virtual meeting on Saturday with Vincenza Trivigno, Chief Executive Officer of the Swiss Agency for Therapeutic Products (Swissmedic).
The meeting focused on enhancing the strategic partnership between the two regulatory authorities and expanding technical co-operation in several key areas, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), the exchange of specialised expertise, regulatory capacity building, and the adoption of internationally recognised regulatory standards and best practices.
El-Ghamrawy highlighted the importance of deepening co-operation with internationally recognised reference regulatory authorities and making effective use of Switzerland’s advanced regulatory and technical expertise.
He emphasised that the exchange of knowledge and best practices with Swissmedic would contribute to the EDA’s ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of its regulatory framework.
For her part, Trivigno praised the continued development of partnership with the EDA and underscored the value of closer cooperation and the exchange of regulatory experience.
She noted that strengthened collaboration can support the development of technical and institutional capabilities while contributing to the continuous advancement of regulatory systems.
The two officials also explored practical mechanisms for implementing specialised training programmes and facilitating the exchange of technical expertise.
