The National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) has opened its 13th exhibition of products made by persons with disabilities at the Armed Forces’ Al-Mushir Hotel in Matrouh Governorate.
Held from September 17 to 19, the exhibition is being organised in co-operation with the Ministry of Defence, represented by the Popular and Military Defence Forces Command.
The opening was attended by Deputy Governor of Matrouh Islam Ragab, Assistant Military Adviser for the Governorate Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Ahmed, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Matrouh Mohamed Adel, and Director of the Governorate’s Directorate of Labour, Mustafa Gaber.
The exhibition brings together 25 exhibitors with disabilities, alongside civil society organisations working in the disability sector.
It showcases accessories, leather and wooden products, clothing, seashell crafts, artwork, woven textiles, furnishings, and antiques inspired by Matrouh’s cultural heritage.
During the opening, an open discussion was held on the exhibitors’ craft training, tools, marketing channels, and support needs.
NCPWD General Supervisor Iman Karim said that the council launched its product-marketing initiative more than four years ago as part of its strategic plan.
Exhibitions held with the Popular and Military Defence Forces have expanded to 24 annually, up from 16, alongside participation in the Cairo International Book Fair and the annual Turathna exhibition.
These platforms promote entrepreneurship, professional independence, social inclusion, and locally made products.
Persons with disabilities represent approximately 11 per cent of Egyptian society.
In addition, the deputy governor stressed the importance of supporting talent, participation, and inclusion.
