Minister of State for Military Production Salah Soleiman Gomblat held talks on Wednesday with a delegation from China Electronics Corporation (CEC), headed by its Chairman Li Ligong, on potential areas of co-operation and joint projects.
Gomblat said the talks reflected the strong relations between Egypt and China and the two countries’ efforts to translate their political understanding into practical co-operation, particularly in technology transfer, the localisation of advanced industries and the development of Egypt’s manufacturing capabilities.
He said the ministry was exploring co-operation with CEC in several priority areas, including digital technologies, radars and advanced electronics.
Gomblat added that the ministry sought to leverage the capabilities of Benha Electronics Company (Factory 144) and other affiliated entities to implement joint projects with Chinese partners. Such projects, he said, would help deepen local manufacturing, promote the exchange of expertise and train specialised technical personnel in advanced technologies.
Li expressed CEC’s interest in strengthening co-operation with the Ministry of Military Production and its affiliated companies, highlighting opportunities to establish joint projects in Egypt and make use of the country’s industrial and technological capabilities.
He said CEC was particularly interested in co-operation in electronics, cybersecurity, digital infrastructure, optical fibre and other advanced technologies.
The meeting comes as Egypt and China seek to deepen their strategic partnership and expand co-operation in manufacturing, renewable energy, digital transformation and advanced technologies, supporting efforts to localise industry and transfer technology while making greater use of the capabilities of both countries.
